'KINDERGARTEN'

This year I have been placed in two different kindergartens for my teaching experiences as university placements. Both of my mentor teachers planned (using the Early Years Learning Frameworks, EYLF) using a variety of methods, formats and the display methods they had used have been interesting also.
One of my mentor would use a scrap book and board to communicate the plan to the parents and families and one mentor would use only a board with her plan and would communicate learning stories and individual child profiles through a website developed by her personally.
I have had the opportunity to experiment with many formats utilising the use of the EYLF during these placements while working alongside my mentor teachers, and implementing many experiences for children based on their interests and strengths formed through my observations and documentation.
As developed as a pedagogical tool, the use of observations is essential in my learning and development to ensure I am focusing on the child and the group I am working with and planning for.

Pedagogical tool- OBSERVATIONS

Over the time spent at this placements, and variety of settings, I have developed examples of observations and documentation of ways in which I can observe the children, document their learning and evaluate this by planning for what can come next.
I used observation as a pedagogical tool to impact the observations that I take and ensure they are following standards and learning frameworks.
As the pedagogical tool poster we had previously developed had a large amount of tools and strategies on this, I chose to use the observation tool and develop this through reflection and trial and error to develop a form of observation that worked well for myself and gave me insight into a child's play and learning.
I believe in the importance of providing children with many opportunities as an educator, although I feel that a child's perspective and initiated play is vital to their personal learning and development. I needed a observation tool that allow me to see children's learning through many contexts and allow for their imagination in play.
I felt that too many observations have section after section and are focused on specific roles or events in the earl childhood setting, so as I didn't have a specific format, I felt that I could reflect and then develop an observation technique that was flowing, easy to read and understand by parents and not too much sections for confusion.
